Sensitive Acne Prone Skin | Have I Found The Best Full Coverage Foundation?

WOW!

For around a year I have turned to MAC Studio Fix Fluid as my go to full coverage foundation but for the last few months I have found it to not be as long wearing on my skin as it used to be, I am still a huge fan but I knew it was time to start hunting for a new full coverage foundation - to wear for nights out / special occasions. You may know I use MAC Face & Body foundation for everyday use.

Anyways I was browsing online watching some youtube videos and remembered a foundation I had wanted to try for about 2 years but never got round to buying which is quite shocking, YES I am talking about the infamous Illamasqua Skin Base foundation, I tried it I fell in love straight away and immediately knew I had to get a review up as soon as possible so here it is!

My Skin

Skin Type - Combination - I tend to get oily around my eyes mostly and around my nose.
My skin is extremely sensitive however and I tend to break out around that time of month - yes girls why oh why must spots exist ( is this why full coverage foundation was made )

Undertones - I have a yellow undertone so tend to go more for a beige yellow foundation.

The Foundation

Brand - Illamasqua Skin Base Foundation - Purchase Here

Shade - 8.5 - Olive Yellow Undertone ( as stated on the website )

Price - £32.50

Size - 30ml

Coverage - Full ( can be sheered out if needed )

So they are the basics, I am totally in love with this foundation, the only thing I dislike ( as with most high end foundations is the size 30ml? why make up gods why? but to make up with it is the fact a little and I mean seriously a little goes an extremely long way I used a pea sized amount and it covered everything.  As a primer I used the illamasqua Hydra Veil primer ( which I will review at a later time ) and everything just sat perfectly.

I put it on at around 11am and forgot to set it with a powder ( I had a cream contour and everything ) I went out for the day shopping and lunch checked back at around 7pm and my face was still flawless ( well as flawless as it can be when I have a massive break out ) This is the first time I have experienced this with a foundation.

The skin base foundation is super blendable I applied it using a damp Real Techniques Miracle Complexion Sponge and the 2 worked great together.
After 1st application I let the foundation set into the skin it didn't clog up my pours ( amen to primer ) didn't apply cakey and dare I say it again but it dried flawlessly.

I have attached a before and after photo as you can see I tend to break out around my chin area it was my time of the month and thats where it hits I also have blemishes on the cheeks which don't bother me at all as I am make up free quite often. but this is the first time a foundation has completely covered it!!

Overall this is a fantastic foundation for me it gets a 9.5/10 !!!!

have you tried it? I would love to hear your opinion and what is new in your foundation collection?

  1. Your coverages is really good. I didn't even know you had uneven skin tone. You look great either way. :)
